Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Technology and IT sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.08% to hit a new all time high, while the index added 1.15%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which rose 7.94% or 8.15 points to trade at 110.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 5.74% or 29.35 points to end at 541.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 4.94% or 42.35 points to 900.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST), which fell 2.57% or 458.95 points to trade at 17430.00 at the close. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) declined 1.63% or 31.00 points to end at 1876.10 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was down 1.34% or 18.20 points to 1343.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 5.51% to 539.75, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 4.37% to settle at 895.10 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 3.86% to close at 910.00.

The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 1.39% to 1875.15 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 1.32% to settle at 17424.15 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 1.21% to 1341.45 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1124 to 521 and 76 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1845 rose and 953 declined, while 161 ended unchanged.

Shares in Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) rose to 5-year highs; rising 3.86% or 33.85 to 910.00.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.84% to 20.1825.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.13% or 20.10 to $1801.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.09% or 0.04 to hit $45.30 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $47.88 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.45% to 73.657, while EUR/INR fell 0.09% to 88.1745.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 91.748.
