Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.12%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.04%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PA:PRTP), which rose 2.04% or 11.80 points to trade at 589.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) added 1.75% or 2.20 points to end at 127.65 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 1.41% or 0.27 points to 19.23 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR), which fell 1.81% or 1.68 points to trade at 91.39 at the close. Safran SA (PA:SAF) declined 1.16% or 1.40 points to end at 119.10 and Thales (PA:TCFP) was down 1.07% or 0.82 points to 75.50.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Devoteam SA (PA:DVTM) which rose 5.38% to 99.90, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was up 3.29% to settle at 7.96 and Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which gained 2.43% to close at 33.75.

The worst performers were Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) which was down 1.81% to 91.39 in late trade, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which lost 1.71% to settle at 5.16 and Carmila SA (PA:CARM) which was down 1.34% to 11.76 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 312 to 264 and 83 ended unchanged.

Shares in Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) rose to 5-year highs; up 1.75% or 2.20 to 127.65.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.06% to 22.88.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.33% or 6.20 to $1889.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.77% or 0.37 to hit $48.37 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.80% or 0.41 to trade at $51.64 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.2300, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.9039.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 89.585.
