© Reuters. France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.42%
Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.42% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which rose 4.24% or 0.89 points to trade at 21.86 at the close. Meanwhile, Atos SE (PA:ATOS) added 3.39% or 2.22 points to end at 67.64 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) was up 2.42% or 1.03 points to 43.51 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 4.07% or 1.55 points to trade at 36.61 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 2.39% or 1.54 points to end at 62.96 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 2.45% or 0.51 points to 20.27.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO) which rose 10.00% to 76.78, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was up 7.51% to settle at 9.70 and Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which gained 5.51% to close at 39.25.
The worst performers were Trigano SA (PA:TRIA) which was down 4.57% to 148.10 in late trade, Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which lost 4.50% to settle at 12.52 and Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) which was down 4.41% to 19.07 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 314 to 274 and 81 ended unchanged.
Shares in Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.42% or 1.03 to 43.51. Shares in Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) rose to all time highs; rising 5.51% or 2.05 to 39.25.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 2.69% or 51.40 to $1862.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.73% or 0.88 to hit $51.71 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.08% or 1.13 to trade at $55.51 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.2254, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.9016.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 89.832.
