© Reuters. Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.44%
Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Utilities and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.44% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 0.33%, and the TecDAX index added 1.03%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 6.20% or 1.988 points to trade at 34.068 at the close. Meanwhile, RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 4.25% or 1.570 points to end at 38.505 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was up 1.72% or 1.190 points to 70.550 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which fell 1.74% or 2.59 points to trade at 146.10 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 1.64% or 0.86 points to end at 51.51 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) was down 1.54% or 0.236 points to 15.137.
The top performers on the MDAX were Siemens Energy AG (DE:ENR1n) which rose 5.08% to 33.48, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 2.93% to settle at 99.400 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which gained 2.67% to close at 121.75.
The worst performers were K&S AG (DE:SDFGn) which was down 5.09% to 9.833 in late trade, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which lost 4.57% to settle at 5.447 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was down 2.49% to 32.880 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which rose 6.20% to 34.068, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 2.93% to settle at 99.400 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which gained 2.79% to close at 25.760.
The worst performers were New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which was down 3.32% to 276.50 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 2.92% to settle at 25.260 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 1.93% to 36.020 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 347 to 325 and 43 ended unchanged.

Shares in Siemens Energy AG (DE:ENR1n) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.08% or 1.62 to 33.48. Shares in Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.67% or 3.17 to 121.75. Shares in Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) rose to all time highs; up 6.20% or 1.988 to 34.068.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.32% to 22.35.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 3.16% or 60.55 to $1853.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.71% or 0.87 to hit $51.70 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.02% or 1.10 to trade at $55.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.2240, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.9020.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 89.950.
