Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.90%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.86%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 3.49% or 0.51 points to trade at 14.99 at the close. Meanwhile, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) added 2.22% or 1.36 points to end at 62.56 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) was up 2.04% or 0.70 points to 35.29 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP), which fell 2.48% or 2.65 points to trade at 104.10 at the close. Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) declined 2.50% or 7.00 points to end at 273.40 and Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) was down 2.30% or 3.65 points to 155.05.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which rose 8.73% to 12.33, Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which was up 6.28% to settle at 16.58 and Nexity (PA:NEXI) which gained 5.59% to close at 37.38.

The worst performers were Getlink SE (PA:GETP) which was down 3.39% to 13.68 in late trade, Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which lost 3.39% to settle at 34.15 and JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which was down 3.03% to 18.27 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 332 to 251 and 85 ended unchanged.

Shares in Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 6.28% or 0.98 to 16.58.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.03% or 0.65 to $1945.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 4.60% or 2.19 to hit $49.81 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 4.07% or 2.08 to trade at $53.17 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.2275, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.9031.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 89.642.
